We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of Brittany Batte, who was recently awarded the Neel Genetic Counseling Neel Fellowship, as well as a Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship Research Award from the National Society of Genetic Counselors. These awards were received due to the quality of her research proposal, Utilizing Illness Representations to Improve Family Communication in a Population at Risk for Cardiomyopathy.

The University of Michigan Genetic Counseling Program is one of the most well established programs in the country and exemplifies our long history of innovation in clinical services and education in Human Genetics - hallmarks of the University of Michigan medical community. It was founded in 1979, twenty-one years after the first genetics clinic and the first Department of Human Genetics in the United States were established at the University of Michigan.
