PROGRAM NEWS
Our research program is driven by the interests of the individual student and takes advantage of the wide variety of genetics initiatives on the University of Michigan campus and within the state of Michigan. The goals of the research project are to improve critical thinking skills, provide first hand experience of the research process, and contribute knowledge to the field of genetic couneling. This year's projects include:

- Sophia Ceulemans: Genetic testing for bipolar disorder: Attitudes and beliefs of affected individuals
- Lauren Kirkby: Presence of occult ovarian cancer in BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers subsequent to risk reducing oophorectomies
- Alyson Krokosky: Critical factors in the transition to emerging adulthood for adolescents with visual impairments
- Kristen Maas: Impact of the physical exam on diagnosis and management of hereditary cancer syndromes.
- Bethany Parks: Myriad's direct-to-consumer BRACAnalysis advertising markets: What messages are reaching the public
through the media?
- Jessica Szymaniak: Assessing potential delivery models for genetic services: Psychological outcome after genetic risk assessment for late-onset Alzheimer's disease
