Graduate Education
Graduate students are essential members of faculty-led basic research teams. This fund provides support to graduate students pursuing PhDs within the Department of Human Genetics. An investment in the education of these talented students helps cultivate the careers of scientists of the future as they strive to apply breakthroughs in research to the prevention, treatment, and cure of human disease.
Carole McTague Genetic Counseling Enrichment Fund
This gift was made possible by John McTague, in memory of Carole McTague, a distinguished graduate of the Genetic Counseling Program. This fund is used to help support student participation in national and regional meetings, student participation in genetic field clinics, student travel to out-of-state summer internship rotations, and guest lectures on topics related to genetic counseling.
Anita and Howard Cramer Fellowship Fund
Established in 1990 by Mr. Harvey Cramer, this fellowship was set up to honor his parents, the late Anita and Howard Cramer, a graduate of the University of Michigan who went on to a teaching career in an inner city school district of New York. His son, Harvey Cramer, worked in the laboratory of Dr. David Kurnit for several summers in the late 1980’s. This fund grants a fellowship award to one second-year Human Genetics Ph.D. student each year.
