We are interested in the molecular basis of inherited neurological
disorders, including epilepsy, ataxia, and peripheral neuropathy affecting
sensory and motor neurons. We use the approach of positional cloning
of mouse neurological mutants, followed by mutation screening of
appropriate human samples. Identification of each novel gene responsible
for disease opens opportunities for understanding new aspects of
cell biology and the systems effects of single gene perturbation.
