Using the Human Genetics Web
Ordering System.
This set of instructions will introduce and guide you to using the department web ordering system. What is new about the system is that it is database driven. This means that every order you place is stored on our database server and therefore can be retrieved through searching the database at any time. Our goal is to eventually get away from using paper altogether and this version is the next step in that process.
1.) Go to http://hg-basic1mail.hg.med.umich.edu/dhg/ and enter your lab's username and password.
2.) Fill out the form with the appropriate information. Please be sure to pay careful attention to the BOLD fields, as the form will not allow you proceed unless information for these fields is entered. It is also important to fill in a correct email address where you want to receive notification that your order has been placed.
3.) Once you have entered in the information, click on the NEXT button. This will take you to a review order page.
4.) Double-check your order. If you are satisfied with the information, click on the submit button. This sends your order to be checked for financial authorization.
5.) Once authorized, your order is sent to either Marge or sue, who will then enter additional information and complete the order. It is at this time that you will receive an email stating that your order has been placed.
6.) You can now return to http://hg-basic1mail.hg.med.umich.edu/dhg/ and check the updated information of your order. Pay close attention to the final comment section of your order as it may contain important information about your order.
